12 Years of Work, Fnatic Resigns from Competitive Dota 2

Dota 2 fans, especially those from the Southeast Asian region, received sad news, because the legendary team owned by SEA, Fnatic, has just withdrawn from the competitive scene of Dota 2. The team from the Philippines, which has existed in various competitions for 12 years, withdrew after its team was relegated to division 2.

The news of Fnatic's goodbye was announced directly on Twitter @Fnatic which was uploaded on February 10 2023 yesterday. This tweet even received many responses from other Dota 2 teams, such as Blacklist International to Talon Esports.

“After reflecting on the continuity of our Dota 2 roster, we have decided to temporarily withdraw from the competitive scene. Above all, we thank the enthusiasm of the SEA fans, players and staff who have supported us while playing competitively,” wrote Fnatic on its Twitter.

Key to that message was the word temporary, indicating that Fnatic could one day return to the competitive scene. The reason is, Fnatic is one of the most respected Dota 2 teams in the SEA arena, because they consistently compete at the highest international level in Dota 2. Apart from subscriptions to Major and The International, Fnatic itself has been ranked 4th in The International. 2016.

Even though Fnatic announced their departure, it is certain that they will not be actively playing after the BTS Pro Series season 14 ends. For the five Fnatic players who are still defending this team, a new team has been found. It is predicted that these five Fnatic players will be up for grabs, especially in the SEA region, because they are experienced players whose mentality and skills have been tested on the international stage.
